Research interests
My primary research interest is the dynamic variability of the radiation belts, with emphasis on the role of wave-particle interactions. Waves in the magnetosphere of the Earth and Jupiter can cause pitch angle scattering and loss of trapped particles to the atmosphere, and also local stochastic energy diffusion. My group at UCLA is currently studying such processes using data from the Van Allen probes at Earth and JUNO at Jupiter.

Candidate's preferred background
Candidates should have a strong background in magnetospheric physics and be familiar with important magnetospheric plasma waves and their potential role in causing radiation belt variability.
