Steven Tomczyk

My research interests include: 1) development of instrumentation for the observation of magnetic and velocity fields in the solar atmosphere, with an emphasis on the solar corona. 2) analysis of coronal wave observations to infer the magnetic field through coronal seismology 3) analysis of the polarization of coronal emission lines to infer the geometry and strength of coronal magnetic fields. The ultimate goal of my research is to understand the buildup and release of magnetic energy in the solar corona that can cause disturbances in the near-Earth environment known as Space Weather.
