Summer School Information About Visas

Students and faculty coming from outside the United States will need to obtain an entry visa or be from a country that is part of the Visa Waiver Program ("ESTA") in order to attend. Airline tickets will not be purchased until the appropriate visa is received. If you require a visa and don't already have a valid B-1 Visitor visa to the U.S., you can find information on obtaining one on the U.S. Department of State website. You will require an invitation letter for HSS along with other supporting documents. 

Please note that the $185 visa fee will be reimbursed by UCAR, but travel to obtain a visa is not an allowable cost. Receipts must be provided for the fee to be reimbursed.

Important - There are significant wait times for B-1 visa interview appointments at U.S. embassies and consulates in many countries, so selected participants should plan and act accordingly.
